What packaging do you use for your nappies?Updated 25 days ago

Here at Mama Bamboo we have trialed various different packaging types and moving forward our nappy packaging will be made from 51% PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) packaging.

Paper packaging - we previously trialed paper packaging, but it simply wasn't robust enough to protect nappies from moisture or tearing during transit.  To make paper strong enough, it often requires a plastic lining, which unfortunately renders it non-recyclable.

Compostable packaging - this has been our main packaging in the past and it was made from renewable resources and is certified as 100% compostable to EN 13432 standards. However, whilst this packaging was compostable in theory, most UK households lack access to industrial composting where it can be and permitted to be composted.  This packaging is currently being phased out as

51% PCR packaging - our new material is widely recyclable across the UK.  By using 51% recycled content, we are supporting the circular economy (reusing existing plastic) rather than creating 'virgin' plastic or non-recyclable hybrids.

Over the course of 2026, we will transition all packaging to the 51% PCR style.  This switch ensures our nappies arrive in perfect, hygienic condition while offering a clear, accessible recycling route for every customer.
